,,Romania and Bulgaria do not just share a common border; together, we have been following our dream: full EU membership. We have similar priorities and face similar challenges, and I thank you for your willingness to build upon the results of the Bulgarian Presidency. I have no doubt in my mind that your Presidency will be rich in opportunities. Thank you for putting an emphasis both on the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkans. You can always rely on our support.“

With these words Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva greeted the Romanian Ambassador Ion Gâlea, who presented today in Sofia the priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

‘The Romanian Presidency will build upon the work done by the Bulgarian Government. We shall continue to devote special attention to the Western Balkans. We shall continue to pursue the Sofia Agenda and the decisions of the European leaders adopted in Bulgaria,’ Ambassador Gâlea stated at the event, which was attended by the ambassadors of the EU member states, Switzerland and Norway.
